Mel Gibson and his soon to be ex-wife are selling their family mansion as their divorce proceedings hit the home stretch.

The couple, who filed for divorce 11 months ago, want $A16 million for their sprawling estate, which is hidden inside an exclusive gated community in sun-drenched Malibu.

The Spanish hacienda-style retreat, Lavender Hill Farm, was listed on Saturday as the couple finalise their bitter split.

Gibson, 55, and his Australian wife Robyn Moore, 54, bought the six-bedroom spread in 1993.

They raised their seven children there as Gibson carved out the glittering Hollywood career that has earned him about $1 billion.

The home, in the star-studded Serra Retreat, has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a gym, three fireplaces, a library, three guest houses and private staff quarters.

There is a pool, spa, tennis court, giant garden chess board, fruit orchards and an open air cabana.

Over the years, their neighbours inside the super rich enclave have included director James Cameron, pop star Britney Spears and Australia’s own Olivia Newton-John.

The Telegraph Online understands the home was listed on Saturday and, so far, no prospective buyers have viewed it.

Robyn Moore filed for a divorce from her movie star husband last April, nearly three years after Gibson claims they first separated.

He has since had a daughter with his new lover, Russian pianist Oksana Grigorieva, 40.

Californian legal experts yesterday said the listing could mean Gibson and Robyn have reached a settlement which orders the sale of the home.

It could also mean that Robyn, who has been the sole occupant since the split, has simply decided to move out and build a new life elsewhere.

She is rumoured to have a close companion in northern California.

In another sign the divorce could be nearing an end, Gibson’s health care plan has been formally tied to the proceedings, a routine process that ensures every last cent is brought before the court for judgment.

Gibson and Robyn had no prenuptial agreement, which means his entire fortune will probably be divided down the middle.

The LA Superior Court judge handling the Gibson divorce has ordered their lawyers to update him on the status of the negotiations in May.The agents selling the family home, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, declined to comment.

Gibson has a taste for expansive country-style living. His 15-bedroom Tudor-style mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut, is on the market for $A32.6 million.

It was first listed in 2007, before the economic downturn.

Dogged by controversy, Mel Gibson has battled through alcoholism, scandal and the collapse of his 28-year marriage.

So it was too much of an opportunity for Ricky Gervais to resist a cheeky dig as he hosted the Golden Globes at a star-studded ceremony in LA earlier this week.

“I like a drink as much as the next man”, quipped The Office star, live on American TV, …”unless the next man is Mel Gibson.”

The Mad Max hero took the joke in good spirits and laughed it off with ease. But then, he has good reason to smile these days.

Three months ago Mel became a father for the eighth time, after his 39-year-old Russian musician lover Oksana Grigorieva gave birth to a daughter, Lucia.

It is three decades since his eldest was born and, at the age of 54, he is changing dirty nappies and facing sleepless nights all over again. And he is loving every minute.

“It’s fantastic”, he gushes. “There’s no gift like the gift of a young life and shes so sweet.

“There are no possible words to describe it. It’s the same, but I’m different.

“I’m older and I probably look at it in a profounder way through the years and wisdom. But the beauty of having done it young and old is that you can look back on it all and still experience it.”

Dressed casually in a grey check sports jacket and jeans, the Hollywood star is chatting in a beachfront hotel suite in Santa Monica.

At times, he seems tense and on edge, but he explains it’s a lack of nicotine not sleep deprivation which is making him a little twitchy.

“You have to forgive me because it’s been seven days since I gave up smoking”, says Mel.

He talks at length, varying between flippancy and serious introspection, with liberal use of four-letter words and flamboyant hand gestures.

If he does not want to answer a question he brusquely states: “I’m not interested in that.”

It’s been seven years since we’ve seen Mel Gibson on the big screen, but he’s back in Warner Bros.’ new political thriller Edge of Darkness, which also stars Ray Winstone. Gibson plays a Boston cop who stumbles across a government and corporate cover-up while searching for the truth about his daughter’s brutal murder. At first he believes he is the target of the crime until he begins to unravel the secrets his daughter was keeping. The film is based on a British TV drama which first aired in 1985 and to this day remains one of the most influential miniseries in British TV history.

Gibson and Winstone not only talked about their latest project, but other upcoming films as well like Mad Max: Fury Road, Gibson’s untitled Viking movie and Steven Soderbergh’s Cleo:

Q: Have you gotten the acting bug back and might you pop up in Mad Max 4?
Mel Gibson: I walked away from it after Signs because I just felt I was a bit stale. It wasn’t ringing my bells so I focused on directing and writing and producing and all that kind of stuff, and it was time to come back. Now, I got the acting bug back because I felt like all of a sudden maybe after all these years I might have something to offer again and it coincided with a very good piece of material. It was a compelling story with good elements attached and I dug it, and it gave me the chance to work with Martin and Ray and Graham and Bill Monahan. If it wasn’t this, it would’ve been something else but this was the best thing that I saw.

Q: Have you talked to George Miller about Mad Max?
Gibson: Oh yeah, I’ve talked to George. We’ve had a good chin wag about it. We talk all the time anyway, George and I, so I’m abreast of that. I know he’s been trying to do this for years, the fourth installment. At one point I was involved and it felt a bit… so now it’s probably gone through a lot of changes. I can’t wait to see it because everything he does I think is magic, I think is a touch of genius, more than a touch of genius about George. Probably most of any good trick I’ve ever learned, I’ve learned off that guy and Peter Weir.

He’s also full of fascinating contradictions – he’s a devout Catholic capable of creating extremely violent films (Braveheart, Apocalypto); a multimillionaire who advocates that wealth should be evenly distributed; and a hugely acclaimed actor and director at the height of artistic success who has, in the past, been brought low by personal demons.

The subject of culpability has arisen because, as we meet, Tiger Woods’s affairs are dominating the news across the globe. Gibson has little patience for criticism of the personal failings of public figures.

‘I feel sorry for Tiger Woods,’ he says. ‘Why are we talking about this when we’re sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan? You’ve got this history-changing event going on and we’re talking about Tiger’s private life and golf injuries. He’s being used as a diversion and it just drives me crazy. You come out savaged. I just think, ‘Who cares?’

Gibson knows from personal experience how this feels. The last time he fell off the wagon, it landed him in spectacular trouble, with an arrest for drink-driving near his home in Malibu in July 2006, which spiraled into a full-blown PR disaster when it was reported he made anti-Semitic comments to the arresting officer (he said that ‘the Jews are responsible for all the wars’). He admits his remarks were – as he says – despicable.

Mel Gibson’s son Will is dealing with his parents’ divorce by throwing himself into charity work in Africa.

Gibson announced earlier this year (09) that his 28-year marriage to wife Robyn was over and it later emerged the actor was dating Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, who subsequently revealed she’s expecting the Lethal Weapon star’s child.

And now, according to a National Enquirer report, 25-year-old Will Gibson – one of the actor’s seven kids with Robyn – has fled to Africa to escape the family controversy, and he has been occupying himself by working with nuns to help the poor in the developing world.

A source tells the tabloid, “Will just had to get away from all the madness surrounding his family… It was just too much for him.”

The National Enquirer seems like the tabloid of record for all things Mel Gibson. They’ve broken many stories about Mel over the past year, and I suspect that they do have actual, real, honest-to-goodness “sources” very close to the Gibson family. Probably more than one source, actually, because sometimes the stories seem to be from a very pro-Mel perspective, but many are from an anti-Mel slant. I can’t really figure this new story out, though. It seems vaguely pro-Mel, in that the “source” seems to have sympathy for the sort of crisis of conscience Mel is going through right now. Apparently, Mel has cold feet about Oksana, and their alleged wedding plans. He misses Robyn and their crappy marriage. The source basically claims that Oksana is henpecking the sh-t out of Crazy Mel, and he’s all a victim of circumstance. Wah!

With a Christmas wedding looming, pals say Mel Gibson is beginning to buckle under the pressure of his billion-dollar divorce and impending marriage to pregnant fiancee Oksana Grigorieva.

“Mel is beginning to show signs of full-fledged panic,” a longtime friend told the Enquirer. “Suddenly, everything’s not as clear-cut as he thought. He’s begun to miss his old life with Robyn and their children, and the prospect of a new bride and a newborn is beginning to terrify him.”

In one revealing moment, Mel admitted that everything is happening too fast.

“Mel has become a runaway train – the wedding, the baby, the much younger bride,” the source divulged. “Mel says he thought he knew what he wanted, but now he’s not so sure.”

Part of the problem is that Mel feels henpecked by Oksana, said the source.

“Mel said Oksana can be very demanding and often nags him about the financial details on his divorce,” the source divulged. “On top of that, Oksana wants Mel to drop at least 25 pounds before they’re married. She’s on him about how he’s letting himself go, and that the age difference between them is worse because he’s starting to look balding and bloated.”

Mel has also realized that while his 29-year marriage to Robyn wasn’t perfect, they’d built a good life together with their children, added the source.

“Mel’s life with Robyn was easy for him, and it pains him that his kids are pulling away from him because of Oksana,” said the source.

Mel should be featured on the new series I’m working on with the Discovery Channel called “When Golddiggers Attack”. Mel Gibson’s pregnant girlfriend is craving ice cream and olives.

Russian pop star Oksana Grigorieva – who is due to give birth to the couple’s first baby in December – can’t stop snacking on a strange combination of the sweet and salty foods.

She revealed: “I’ve eaten a lot of ice cream. I eat ice cream and then I eat olives. It’s very strange.”

Although Oksana – who already has a 12-year-old son, Alexander, from a previous relationship – is happy to reveal her cravings, she is remaining tight-lipped on the sex of the baby.

Asked whether she was expecting a boy or a girl, she said: “Well, it’s definitely going to be one of those! I guess we’ll find out soon enough. We’re going to keep it private.”

Mel, 53, met 39-year-old Oksana when she was signed to his record label Icon.

They announced they were expecting their first child six weeks after Mel’s wife of 28 years Robyn filed for divorce.

Mel and Robyn have seven children and Oksana is convinced he will be an excellent father to the newest addition to his brood.

She said: “Mel is naturally great with children. If I can put it in one word: kindness. You see, he understands the dynamic of parenthood and he truly loves children. He is a big kid at heart.”

Last week, it looked like Mel Gibson and Robyn Gibson were finding some semblance of peace. Reports indicated that their divorce negotiations were going smoothly, and Robyn even left the country for Oksana Grigorieva’s media blitz. Not so much, as it turns out. The Enquirer is reporting that after a small reconciliation, Robyn “has crafted a startling new plan” to destroy Mel’s soul. ‘Atta girl. Robyn pulled away from making it easy on Mel when she “grew suspicious” of Oksana. Robyn thinks Oksana has a “sketchy past” (duh) and Robyn hired a private investigator to follow Oksana at all times. Robyn truly feels that Oksana is out to get as much money from Mel as possible (dur), and Robyn wants to make sure she and her kids are taken care of first:

Mel’s determination for a quickie divorce has infuriated estranged wife Robyn, and she has crafted a startling new plan to sink his fast-track wedding to pregnant fiancee Oksana Grigorieva, the Enquirer has learned.

Hollywood’s most vicious divorce battle has taken a venomous turn with Mel’s scorned ex putting a private detective on Oksana, and vowing to dismantle his Holy Family Chapel in Agoura Hills, say sources.

According to insiders close to her, Robyn has agreed to a “bifurcated” divorce – a process in which the marriage is terminated quickly, but division of property, alimony, child support or custody arrangements, and determined later.

However, “Robyn is out to get Mel in the end,” says a close family friend. “There’s $1 billion at stake, and Robyn is planning on taking it all, including Mel’s chapel.”

“Her attorneys have finally gotten through to her that the real estate alone the chapel sits on is worth millions. While she’s been a member of the chapel for years, Robyn’s involvement was all because of Mel. She’s not Catholic and she could not care less about Mel’s shrine.”

We recently reported that Robyn and Mel were on good terms and trying to work things out amicably during secret meeting at the chapel. But Robyn made a sudden about-face after she grew increasingly suspicious of Oksana’s motives, and the Gibson children began to resent the Russian pop singer.

“Robyn feels Oksana has a sketchy past, and that she’s using Mel. She also believes Oksana is out to get a big piece of the Gibson family’s financial pie,” the friend divulged. “She’s so furious that she’s hired a private investigator to follow Oksana. She wants as much dirt as possible to give her leverage if a court battle is necessary.”

The seven Gibson children are on their mom’s side, the source said.

“Oksana told Mel that his kids should be separate from their new life together,” claimed the friend. “Oksana wants her own life with Mel, their baby and her 12-year-old son. She’s pushing Mel to put all of his time and money into his new family.”

“But Mel’s kids love him, and they feel he is choosing Oksana and her family over them. At this point, they are against Oksana and think she is after their father’s money and quality time.”

I hate the reference to Oksana as “his new family”. Barf. I mean, obviously, he’s knocked her up and he’s going to try to make a go of it. But let’s not sanctimoniously refer to either an “old” or “new” family. Robyn and Mel have seven children together – and even though I think Mel is a total sleaze, I do think he’ll do right by his kids. He’ll probably do right by Robyn too – she must really have the dirt of him, and it probably scares the hell out of him. All Robyn has to do is sign a book deal or do one sit-down tell-all interview with Barbara Walters, and Mel’s ass and assets are hers.

There’s been a lot of news lately about Mel Gibson and his pregnant girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, probably because she’s been doing a media blitz to promote her album, which Mel Gibson is paying for. Oksana admitted last week that she only got with Mel when he “reassured” her his marriage was unhappy. Previously, we’ve heard other explanations for how, when and where Mel and his wife Robyn became estranged, and my guess was that Oksana just forgot her talking points. We’ve also heard about the alleged “secret annulment” Mel Gibson got from his sort-of Catholic Church in California, supposedly so he could marry Oksana free and clear. Most of the stories have been pretty consistent – Oksana is here to stay, and Mel is making arrangements to have their relationship legitimized in the eyes of the public.

Alas, the Enquirer has a different take. And before everyone gets up in arms about it being from the Enquirer, keep in mind that they’ve had several great scoops on Mel and Oksana that later turned out to be true. They claim that Mel is really worried that Robyn will destroy him in the divorce, and that Robyn will turn all of their kids against him. I totally buy that. The Enquirer also reports that Robyn and Mel have been meeting secretly to work out the divorce deal, and to keep the peace – they are “getting along better than they have in years.” My guess is that Robyn is being nice because she’s visualizing all of that money she’s going to get. Imagining eight zeroes on a check has a calming effect. But guess who’s not happy with Mel and Robyn’s secret meetings? Oksana!

But… the truce with Robyn is causing tremendous turmoil between him and 39-year-old Oksana, who is due to deliver his child this fall.

“When Oksana found out about Mel’s secret meetings with Robyn, she went berserk,” said the insider.

“The key problem is Oksana knows Mel will always have a place in his heart for Robyn, and she’s scared to death that Mel might reconsider their divorce.”

But a reconciliation is not really an option, said the source. One big factor, as the Enquirer recently reported, is 53-year-old Robyn’s newfound happiness with her secret boyfriend, who lives in northern California.

“At this point, Robyn just wants the divorce to be finalized so she can move on with her life,” explained the insider. “And she wants the Gibson kids to be happy with both their parent’s new relationships.”

Oksana’s not really the sharpest knife in the drawer is she? Threatening to not marry Mel isn’t much of a bluff. Oksana needs the marriage way more than Mel. True, she’s got her baby “Cash Money”, but she would get a lot more in a divorce. As for the threat about not seeing Robyn anymore? Puh-lease. No matter how much of a douche I think Mel is, I do think he and Robyn probably care very much about maintaining some sort of civil relationship for their seven kids.
