Mel Gibson Wants DUI Erased From Record

Posted on September 29, 2009 at 6:36 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson is seeking to put his ugly 2006 DUI incident behind him – for good.

In a routine legal move, his lawyer, Blair Berk, has asked a court to dismiss his drunk driving conviction since Gibson, 53, has successfully met the terms of his three-year probation, which included alcohol education classes, AA meetings and paying fines.

Berk wasn’t immediately available for comment.

“All this means is that Gibson’s been staying out of trouble and it’ll likely be approved by the court,” says L.A. criminal defense attorney Anthony Salerno, who’s not involved with the case.

“An arrest like this never fully disappears from one’s record, but getting a dismissal helps in practical situations like crossing into Canada,” Salerno added.

A hearing in the matter is set for Oct. 6.

Real Story Folks

Posted on May 4, 2009 at 1:14 AM EST by BlessedBeauty

I meant to post this yesterday, but completely slipped my mind. Here’s a message written on IMDb by someone claiming to know the Gibsons. Thanks to a lovely member at Mel Minders for sharing it!

Here’s the real story folks(family source)…

In late 80s Mel was a wreck – a drunk with a bad temper and Robyn gave him a choice – clean up or I will leave you.

Mel cleaned up and things got better. There were couple laspes in 90s and early 2000s but everytime that happened Mel was open with Robyn and got help and got better.

Then in 05 he began drinking again but this time kept it from Robyn. Things got worse and we know what happen with DUI arrest.

After than Robyn said she was through with Mel. So even though they lived in the same house and attend family functions they were living separate lives.

Then Mel meet someone and fell in love. And once the picture of her and Mel at the beach went public Robyn couldn’t pretend anymore and she filed. It’s one thing to stay together and no ones no the wiser but it’s a differnet story when it’s splashed on the news – she was humilated.

Even though the divorce is in motion and Mel has gone public with his gf Robyn still loves him and would take him back he was willing to change. And I wouldn’t be shocked if Mel comes back with Robyn. But this my opinion from knowing them and the family.

But Robyn and Mel have always fought and it’s hard has people know – Robyn got pregnant and that’s why the decide to get married – there not an ideal personality match.

On the rumor is gf is pregnant and that’s why Robyn left it’s bs – she’s not pregnant.

Will the LAPD Get Help From Mel Gibson?

Posted on February 20, 2009 at 7:46 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

In their investigation of whether a picture of a bruised and battered Rihanna was part of an LAPD case file before appearing on the celebrity website TMZ.com, the Los Angeles Police Department might get some help from an unlikely ally: Mel Gibson.

Gibson, as you may recall, had details of an arrest report involving his 2006 drunk driving arrest posted on TMZ.com, replete with embarrassing details about an anti-Semitic tirade he directed at a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy.

That incident — as well as fears about unauthorized disclosures of details in celebrity cases — led to a new state law this year that makes it a misdemeanor for peace officers or law enforcement employees to profit by leaking confidential reports or images. Those who violate the law face a $1,000 fine.

In pushing for the legislation, now dubbed “Mel’s Law,” Assemblywoman Julia Brownley (D-Santa Monica) argued for a crackdown on for-profit leaks because information obtained during criminal investigations could compromise cases.

The LAPD said the release of a photograph purportedly related to an alleged domestic violence incident involving entertainer Chris Brown and an unnamed woman “has the appearance of one taken” as part of evidence collected in the case, though it has yet to be determined if the picture is from the case file or simply an image captured by someone not involved in the formal police investigation.

Even so, police officials noted they had launched an immediate investigation and filed a personnel complaint.

Two years ago, the LAPD found that one of its officers shot video that appeared on TMZ.com showing the rapper The Game bragging with a wad of money inside his jail cell.

The officer told investigators he gave the video, which was shot with a cellphone camera, to TMZ.com because he thought it would be fun, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation. Investigators never found any evidence that the officer was paid for the video clip.

Harvey Levin, managing editor of TMZ.com, has said he does not comment on where his site gets its material.

Shots For Friends In Boston

Posted on August 26, 2008 at 1:30 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

This is the least judgmental article I’ve read in a long while. Thumbs up for Mel.

Mel Gibson has been frequently visiting the bars in Boston since his arriving there last week, buying alcoholic drinks for his friends, after being charged with drunk driving in 2006.

Close friends insist that Gibson doesn’t drink, though he was spotted buying shots for pals at Mantra last week and showed up over the weekend in Sullivan’s Pub, Charlestown, where he signed autographs.

“Not at all. He goes out; he socializes and has a good time. Maybe the people he’s with are drinking but he doesn’t”, said a source close to Gibson.

Still, there was one patron at Mantra who swears he saw Mel drink a shot and a beer there. And one of the boyos at Sullivan’s said the “Passion of the Christ” impresario hoisted a Guinness or two at the pub.

But Gibson has been a model citizen since following court-ordered treatment for alcoholism two years ago.

The actor received charges of drunken driving in 2006, serving three years’ probation, a fine and alcohol-rehabilitation classes.

During his arrest, Gibson apologized deeply.

Yesterday, Gibson began filming Edge of Darkness in Boston. This flick is a thriller about a cop who investigates the murder of his protester daughter. The flick co-stars Robert De Niro, and it marks Gibson’s comeback in front of the camera after a 6-year-break.

‘The Cleaner’, a Mel mention

Posted on July 15, 2008 at 1:02 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

“The Cleaner,” which follows the adventures of an “extreme interventionist,” is a slightly exasperating new series from A&E — its first original scripted show in six years, the network is proud to point out. There are some good things here, and some that are less good: It’s a mix of the professionally done, the professionally overdone, the reasonably convincing, the surprisingly hackneyed and the occasionally absurd.

We are told by an opening title card that William Banks, who is played by Benjamin Bratt, formerly of “Law & Order,” “has saved 257 people from addiction to drugs, sex and gambling.” (I love the specificity of that figure.) “He’s not a cop,” the title continues. “He’s not a superhero. He’s just a man with a Calling.” Yet he has made himself hard to find, so he’s a man with a calling whom you really have to want to call.

The show is loosely based on the real-life work of Warren Boyd — same initials, see — who is the man Mel Gibson brought to Courtney Love’s Beverly Hills hotel room a few years back to convince her to go into treatment. (Love later recommended him to Whitney Houston.) A figure obviously to be reckoned with, he has developed, according to an A&E news release, “a partly secretive, partly incomprehensible, very nontraditional method that he employs on a daily basis to help others get clean.” Those others range from “high-profile names to perfect strangers.”

Mel Tried To Set Brit Up With His Son

Posted on June 29, 2008 at 4:38 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson has twin sons who turn 26 this year, Edward and Christian, who both have stints in rehab. Ed was out of rehab late last year for an alcohol and cocaine addiction, and Christian got a DUI in 2006 and checked into rehab in late January of this year. Mel, who has also has a well publicized DUI under his belt, has recently befriended pop singer Britney Spears, 26. Britney has spent time at Mel’s estate in Costa Rica and has been seen out to dinner with him and his family.

While some speculated that Mel wanted to help Britney with her personal problems, and others wondered if he was trying to convert her to his unique brand of Catholicism, Mel may have had another motivation for spending time with Britney. The National Enquirer reports that Mel tried to set Britney up with the less messed-up twin her age, Edward, but that Britney wasn’t having that. Mel’s son Edward is working his recovery program and The Enquirer says Mel believed he would be a good influence on her.

[Mel Gibson] believed his son Edward – who was in rehab last year for cocaine and alcohol addition – had turned his life around and could help Britney do the same, an insider told The Enquirer.

“Mel felt Ed would be a great influence on Brit, and if the relationship turned to romance, all the better,” said the insider.

So Gibson arranged a meeting between the pair at Britney’s home in the Hollywood Hills last March, said the source.

“He sincerely believed that his son could help Britney stay on the straight and narrow and that they might hit it off as a couple as well,” the insider explained.

But Britney, 26, gave the cold shoulder to Mel and Edward …

“She hid from them most of the night,” revealed the insider. “Mel and his son spent most of the evening talking to her bodyguards.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, July 7, 2008]

There must have been no hard feelings between Britney and Mel after she tried to avoid the set up with one of his sons. She was seen at his Costa Rican getaway in mid-May. Britney also brought along a man with whom she’s been romantically linked in the past, agent Jason Trawick. Maybe Britney and Jason were already dating at that point and she wasn’t open to meeting Mel’s son or maybe she just wasn’t interested in the guy. Can you imagine thinking it’s a good idea to set up Britney Spears with a member of your family, though? At that point it had only been two months since she had that big melt down and was hospitalized.

No Hiccups This Time, Mel’s Judged Outstanding

Posted on February 18, 2008 at 9:32 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Things are looking up again for Mel Gibson, after the fallout over his drink driving conviction.

At the weekend he won the Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema Award at the fifth annual Irish Film and Television Academy Awards in Dublin.

It’s the first award of its kind to be presented by the Academy.

Gibson, 52, has starred in more than 48 film and television productions in a career that spans over four decades.

He is best known in Ireland for 1994’s Braveheart, which he starred in and directed in Ireland.

The award came after a Judge Lawrence Mira praised Gibson’s progress in a US court-ordered alcohol rehabilitation program.

She wished him good luck and said he need not report his progress any more to the court.

Gibson will remain on probation for a further 18 months.

Mel Gibson Nursing A New Heartbreak

Posted on January 25, 2008 at 9:22 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Hollywood star Mel Gibson is nursing a new heartbreak – a second son has reportedly checked into rehab.

Just three months after his 25 year-old son Edward checked into rehab for drink and drug problems, his twin brother Christian has checked into the same nerve center. According to US sheet The Enquirer, Christian entered rehab to battle his addiction to crack, pills and booze.

Edward was admitted to the Cri-Help center in North Hollywood back in September 2007.

Now the Enquirer claims that Christian likewise checked in scarcely before Christmas. Mad Soap star Gibson, world Health Organization was himself ordered to enroll in an alcohol maltreat program after his DUI arrest and anti-semitic rant back in July 2006, is footing the bill. He has been paying $5,five hundred a month for each twin in a bid to help them reclaim.

The costs are far less than the usual $25,000 – $30,000 it costs to stay in such celebrity friendly rehab centres like Promises in Malibu. Truck driver Tom Paige was in Cri-Help rehab centre at the time when both twins were being treated. Paige, 40, from a resident at the centre from September 2007 to earlier this month and met both Gibson boys. He told the Enquirer that both twins chequered into the center voluntarily after their famous dad got tough with them. Satchel Paige told the Inquirer: “Christian was placid in there when I left. “He entered in December after he was thrown and twisted out of a house he’d been staying at in Malibu for non paying his snag. “He told me he’d been homeless and living in his cart – and that he was addicted to crack, pills and intoxicant. “His brother Eddie entered first for a month in Sept, with alcohol and cocaine addiction.” Eddie was discharged in Oct but he non-effervescent continued to wait on twice weekly ‘alumni meetings’ which included bingo games.

Paige chatted to the gemini and watched them together – and told the Inquirer that the Althea Gibson boys had non always been a model of brotherly love. Paige added: “Eddie and his comrade were not speaking after they fought in a club over something stupid. Eddie knocked his brother out. Now they’ve kissed and made up and Christian showed me the scar on his lip.” Both of Gibson’s sons seem to have finally conquered their battle with drink and drugs. But Paige told the Enquirer that they were both in a ‘poor shape’ when they first checked into Cri-Help. He said: “Eddie was a mess.

He didn’t speak to anyone for years, he had his sweater hood over his head for the first 48 hours. One time when I asked Eddie how his papa was, he laughed grimly and said: ‘Well he hasn’t fucked up recently!’ Christian had a boneheaded beard and was only 120 pounds. He put on 30 pounds piece being treated.” Father of seven Gibson and his wife Robyn visited the twins regularly added Satchel Paige: “When they came for Halloween and one of the patients in a play was appareled as a warrior with a steel, Mel said: ‘That guy was great!’ “And the family was also there for Christmas dinner. All I saw was love and laughter.

How Do Fallen Stars Rise Again?

Posted on November 7, 2007 at 3:02 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

For avid movie lovers, the prospect of a new film being released to critical acclaim and a deafening Oscar buzz is an exciting thought. One of those movies this year is Robert Redford’s political drama ‘Lions for Lambs’, starring none other than the over-exposed, and regularly ridiculed, Tom Cruise.

Except this time, he’s being lauded for a stunning performance. Suddenly, after a few years of weirdness, Cruise is back on top of his game, wooing audiences with his trademark boyish charm, and critics with his acting. When it comes to Hollywood, there clearly is a statute of limitations on disgraced stars staging a successful comeback and it seems everyone can claw (or use a couch as a jumping board) their way back to the top.

From drunkenness to drugs, racism to homophobia, Tinseltown’s best and brightest can sometimes just lose their grip on things and spiral out of control. Luckily for them, Hollywood has turned out to be a forgiving place.

Winning Winona
Her career seemed unstoppable snagging the best roles, winning awards and blazing a trail of unforgettable performances that put her firmly on Hollywood’s best actress list. But then, sticky fingers got in the way and a shopping spree gone awry landed her in the courts for shoplifting in 2001.
Ryder went deep, shunning the media and keeping a low profile. But she is now gearing up for a triumphant return with a slew of movies lined up for release, including a reunion with screenwriter Daniel Waters who wrote ‘Heathers’ in a surreal black comedy called ‘Sex and Death 101’. And if ever there were a more telling sign of forgiveness, Ryder appeared on the front cover of Vogue magazine in August, reclaiming her spot as one of Hollywood’s leading ladies.

Assault on Alec
When it comes to crimes and misdemeanours, nothing spells trouble quite like bad behaviour as a parent. Britney got the raw end of the deal when she let baby Preston get behind the wheel, but older, and supposedly wiser, stars have also slipped up. Remember Alec Baldwin’s embarrassing tirade against daughter Ireland, his child with embittered ex-wife Kim Basinger? It went something like this.
After a recording of a telephone message he left for his daughter on April 11, 2007 was leaked to the press, Baldwin found himself in the parental hot seat for his less-than-kind words. Calling her a “thoughtless little pig” for failing to pick up a pre-arranged phone call, Baldwin’s reaction was heard all over the world and his career was primed to take a beating. But after making his rounds on the talk show circuit (citing ‘parental alienation’ as the cause of the outburst) and some major damage control by his PR gurus, Baldwin seems to have escaped completely unscathed and still regarded as one of Hollywood’s finest actors. It seems errant fathers are easy to forgive in La-la land.

Caught Hugh
If ever there was a cautionary tale for bad behaviour, Dubai’s latest celebrity visitor (yes ladies, he was spotted in Cin Cin last week), Hugh Grant poses the best example. After being caught with his pants down early on in his career, Grant staged a brilliant comeback and remained a favourite on the romantic comedy circuit despite his very un-romantic misdemeanour with a prostitute.

Mumbling Mel
Long believed to be Hollywood’s golden boy, the clean-cut, scandal-free Mel Gibson was at the top of his game, writing, producing, acting and directing some of the film industry’s modern classics and winning the hearts of women the world over. After the release of ‘The Passion of the Christ’, it looked like Gibson could retire from the game having seen and done it all. But then he decided to let his alcoholism – who knew? – get in the way and one ill-fated night, after being stopped while driving under the influence, Gibson spewed forth a racist rant to his arresting officer, coming out with an anti-semitic tirade that ruffled one too many feathers in the US.

He was splashed across the papers and TV screens and his outburst was the topic du jour for worthy chat show hosts and yet, when his Mayan epic ‘Apocalypto’ was released soon after, it was received as a masterpiece by many fans and critics. Gibson currently seems to be taking his PR handlers advice and is keeping a low profile, but his next piece of work surely has ‘hit’ written all over it.

Just Wait It Out
So what is forgivable and what isn’t in Hollywood? According to Eric Dezenhall, a damage control specialist and author of ‘Damage Control’. “Hollywood is held to a very different standard. There is no pretense for morality,” he told Forbes.com. Most things will eventually blow over so long as apologies, retractions and repentance are timed correctly. “Go away for a while and come back once the hurricane passes,” he says. “It’s very difficult to rebuild your house in the middle of a storm. You just have to wait.” Wise words for the next star to slip up in Hollywood.

Gibson’s Son In Rehab

Posted on November 2, 2007 at 2:38 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson’s 25-year-old son has reportedly cut ties with his family in a bid to battle substance abuse alone in rehab.

Edward Gibson checked into California’s Cri-Help clinic in late September (07) and has told staff he won’t see visitors, according to the National Enquirer. The publication reports Gibson’s son has been battling an addiction to cocaine and alcohol.

A source says, “He’s very self-conscious and finds it difficult to speak about his background, which is thwarting his recovery.”

The insider claims Edward – one of Gibson’s seven kids – took the decision to seek help after fearing he’d kill someone by climbing behind the wheel of a car while drunk or high.

A friend tells the Enquirer he insisted on cutting all ties to his friends and family because he doesn’t want “any distractions”.

The source says, “He told a pal, ‘I know my dad loves me, but this is something I have to do by myself for myself. My dad is just going to have to chill.’” And friends are confident Edward won’t become another “victim”. The insider adds, “He doesn’t want to be written off as just another kid of a celebrity who spun out on drugs.”
