Hollywood star Mel Gibson moved to quash speculation surrounding his love life today following reports he has become close to a glamorous Russian musician.

The Australian publication Women’s Day said that married Gibson had become close to an Eastern European known only as Oksana while filming his new movie Edge Of Darkness.

The publication cited numerous occasions when the pair had been seen together in Gibson’s trailer, claiming that tongues were wagging about the pair’s relationship on the set.

However, Gibson’s spokesman Alan Neirob shot down the reports.

He told MailOnline that Oksana is merely ‘one of the artists on Mel’s recording label Icon and is currently in the US recording a new album. She’s a musician.’

Women’s Day claimed Gibson had become close to the slim brunette on the Boston movie set.

The publication reported Oksana has been spotted on the set three days in a row, on one occasion emerging from the 52-year-old actor’s private trailer.

The photographs have caused a stir in the actor’s native Australia.

The Lethal Weapon star’s wife, Robyn, 52, was expected to visit the set from LA, however she is yet to do so, according to a report.

The pair have been married for 28 years and have seven children together.

Gibson has previously credited his wife for her support during his high-profile scandals.

Gibson was famously arrested in 2006 with his blood-alcohol level one and a half times over the limit.

At the time of his arrest the staunch Catholic swore at the officer who stopped him, saying: ‘The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.’

Gibson, who was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous, repeatedly apologised for making the derogatory comment, later explaining that he had battled with alcoholism his whole life.

Asked in a television what he told his wife, he said: ‘I just told her straight out - “Slipped again”. And, uh, she was like - of course, she doesn’t like that. But she was gracious, compassionate.’

He was also asked how many times he could expect her to bear the brunt of his behavior, to which he responded: ‘Boy, I don’t know. Good question. I don’t know the answer to it.’

An email to Mel Gibson’s representative was not immediately returned.
