- The original director, Phillip Noyce, was fired due to creative differences.
- Was filmed in locations in Taiwan.
- Reportedly, Mel and director, Tim Burstall, didn’t get along well on set. Several months following the film’s wrap, Mel arrived at King’s Cross in Sydney where Tim was editing the film. The two had a drink and Mel talked about his plans to marry Robyn.
- During scenes, they devised various tricks to make Mel appear about the same height as co-star John Phillip Law.
