Last week it was reported that Mel Gibson scolded his flock at the Holy Family Church in Agoura, just north of Malibu.

The article was originated from Radar Online – which claimed their source was in the church and witnessed the event.

Monsters and Critics’ Los Angeles office is located five minutes from the Holy Family Church, in Malibu Canyon, and we were contacted directly by a parishioner who wished to speak out anonymously.

She gave us this statement:

I have read several of these articles about Mel Gibson’s supposed ‘crazed rant.’

I am a long time parishioner at Mel’s Holy Family Chapel and I was there on Sunday when this happened. I don’t know who the source was for this, but I have an idea, since there was a lady there that day who was not a parishioner and obviously was there just for Mel… who, after mass, he asked her to leave… so I suspect this lady was upset and decided to completely exaggerate his announcement to make him look crazy. But I could be wrong about that, perhaps it was someone else… I don’t know.

What I do know is this:

The source is quoted as saying, ‘It was a crazed rant. He paced back and forth, furiously telling the congregation including two priests and a visiting bishop, that he would not stand by and be judged and scrutinized.’

“He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes.”

First of all, it was not ‘crazed.’ He calmly walked up to the altar after mass finished and simply asked for everyone not to gossip about his personal affairs. He did not ‘pace back and forth’, he calmly stood in one spot; He did not ‘furiously tell the congregation’ etc. He was a little frustrated maybe, as would be understandable, but definitely not ‘furious’ and did not stare at everyone with ‘angry eyes.’

And the two priests and bishop had already processed out to the back room (the sacristy) by the time he made his announcement.

Neither did he threaten to ’shut down’ the church if people kept gossiping about him. What he did say, is that if he continues to see gossip about him in the media… that is, information that could only come from people who are at the church… he would make the church ‘by invitation only’ – not ’shut it down.’

This is also understandable since we constantly get people coming to the church simply to try to talk to Mel about business matters or to gain information to gossip about or anything other than simply coming to worship God. It is his place after all, and it is only through his generosity that he allows us all to attend mass there.

And about ‘Mel hasn’t been practicing what he preaches’ .. gossip is also viewed as a serious sin in the Church.

So if this source considers him or herself as a Catholic, he/she is not exercising their faith either, and neither is anyone else who considers themselves Catholic… so it is a completely acceptable thing to ask parishioners not to gossip.

The bottom line is, whoever the source was they completely exaggerated the situation and turned into something it was not.

Mel Gibson’s spokesman has vehemently denied a story told this column regarding an alleged large financial settlement between the filmmaker and actor, and girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, who is expecting Gibson’s child.

Insisting there is absolutely no ‘‘financial agreement of any sort’’ and that the facts provided to this column by a previously reliable source ‘‘are bogus and falsified,’’ the spokesman called the entire story ‘‘absurd.’’

According to the source, Gibson had agreed to both pay Grigorieva $10 million once the child is born later this year, pay her $40,000 in month child support until the child is 18, and pay for all educational expenses through college. Additionally, the source — a longtime associate of Gibson’s — said there also was a preliminary agreement on a prenuptial agreement between the couple, should they marry.

After checking with the sole legal representative for Gibson, the entertainer’s publicist also stressed there was no agreement of any kind along these lines.

Robyn Gibson, Mel’s wife of 27-years and the mother of his other seven children, has filed for divorce. Given the length of the couple’s marriage and California community property laws, it is expected she could eventually be paid as much as half of Gibson’s estimated $750 million fortune in a settlement.

Grigorieva, a singer, reportedly met Gibson and developed a relationship with him after signing with the record label he owns.

Six weeks after his wife Robyn filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage, Mel Gibson has some news of his own: his Russian musician girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, 39, is pregnant, the actor’s rep confirms exclusively to People.

“He couldn’t be happier,” says a Gibson friend. “He loves being a father.”

Grigorieva, who is signed to Gibson’s record label, Icon Records, is in her second trimester and due in the late fall.

For those eager to point to Grigorieva’s pregnancy as a catalyst for Gibson’s divorce, they’ll be wrong, says the close source: “This has nothing to do with the divorce. Mel didn’t even know Oksana was pregnant when they filed.”

Gibson’s wife Robyn, who cited “irreconcilable differences” in her April 13 divorce petition, has remained mum on his relationship with Grigorieva and the pregnancy rumors. According to Gibson’s own divorce response, filed on the same day as Robyn’s, he and his wife separated almost three years ago.

Gibson, 53, who has seven children with Robyn, including their youngest, 10-year-old son Thomas, and Oksana, who has a son, Alexander, with her former boyfriend, actor Timothy Dalton, stepped out for the first time at an industry screening for X-Men Origins: Wolverine in L.A. on April 29.

Grigorieva’s son and the Gibson kids have met and vacationed together and, says a source, get along well.

The baby news is not expected to complicate legal matters, experts say.

“This pregnancy won’t have any effect on Mel Gibson’s pending divorce,” says L.A. family lawyer Michael Trope, who’s not involved with the case. “Just having a girlfriend alone is only relevant if Mel spent large sums of community money on her during his marriage.”

Without any indication the ex-couple had a prenup, Robyn is legally entitled to half of Gibson’s fortune, estimated at close to $1 billion.

Because of this, experts agree this divorce won’t be messy and will probably resolve quietly in several months.

Mel Gibson has stunned Hollywood by stepping out with his new girlfriend for the first time since his marriage split.

He took Oksana Grigorieva, 39, to the screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Braveheart star Mel, 53, held hands with the sexy Russian pianist as they walked down the red carpet.

The couple’s surprise appearance came just two weeks after Mel’s wife of 28 years, Robyn, 52, filed for divorce.

Under Californian law she could lay claim to half of actor and producer Mel’s fortune, said to be at least £640m.

The actor’s spokesman said: “Mel has been single for almost three years. It’s nice to see him getting out and enjoying himself.”

Oksana, who is signed to Gibson’s label Icon Records, has a 12-year-old son with her ex-boyfriend, former James Bond star Timothy Dalton, 63.

Dad-of-seven Mel was invited to the premiere by Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, 40, who said his character was inspired by Mel’s famous role as Mad Max.

More than two weeks after his wife filed for divorce, Mel Gibson and girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva made their first public appearance at the X-Men Origins: Wolverine screening in L.A. Tuesday.

Holding hands, the 53-year-old actor — in a black suit with a dark gray shirt — and Grigorieva, 38, did not stop to pose for photographers, instead rushing inside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

As Us Weekly previously reported Grigorieva is a Russian singer who is signed to the his record label, Icon Records. She was hired to compose a song for Gibson’s upcoming thriller Edge of Darkness.

The two got close on the Massachusetts set last summer but always tried to be discreet about their relationship.

“They would come out and attempt to walk around separately, but then at the end of the day, they both returned to the same hotel,” the on-set source told Us. “She was there on and off for a week, but it was clear she had no business there other than to be with Mel.”

“They came in quietly and as under the radar as they could and they were pretty low-key,” says a source. “Mel seemed very comfortable.”

According to the source, Gibson attended the screening on the invitation of Fox Chairman James Gianopoulos and Wolverine producers Richard and Lauren Donner and fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman, who told the audience that he got inspiration for his character from Gibson’s role as Mad Max.

The vexed question of which Oksana is behind the end of Mel Gibson’s 28-year marriage has been answered … by the Mad Max star himself.

Gibson turned up for the Los Angeles premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine clasping the hand of Oksana Grigorieva.

The development comes after the Herald’s Diary reported angry denials from another Oksana … Russian nightclub chanteuse Oksana Kolesnikova two weeks ago.

She said she was not the mystery brunette pictured with the actor frolicking on a beach in Costa Rica last month.

Then a second Oksana emerged to claim the title of Gibson’s clandestine love interest.

Pop starlet Oksana Pochepa, 24, told British tabloids her alleged relationship with the actor was “serious”.

“I don’t know how long it will last … but Mel is a grown man and knows precisely what he wants,” she told The Sun.

But unless he’s collecting Oksanas, it seems he’s got only one by the hand – and that’s Grigorieva.

There have been reports that she is pregnant by him and that was what triggerred his wife, Robyn Moore, to file for divorce.

Mel Gibson made his first public appearance with his new love interest, at the X-Men Origins: Wolverine premiere on Wednesday evening in Los Angeles.

Mel hit the carpet with a woman believed to be Oksana Grigorieva. And, the source revealed that the actor has actually been with Oksana for around three years.

Additionally, the source told Access that Mel made an appearance on the red carpet for Hugh Jackman’s new movie because of his friendship with Richard and Lauren Donner, the producers of Wolverine, and Mel’s Lethal Weapon movie series.

Plus, the source added, “he wanted to see the movie.”

As previously reported on Access Hollywood, earlier this month, Mel and his wife, Robyn, officially filed for divorce in Los Angeles court. They separated almost three years ago.
