The National Enquirer seems like the tabloid of record for all things Mel Gibson. They’ve broken many stories about Mel over the past year, and I suspect that they do have actual, real, honest-to-goodness “sources” very close to the Gibson family. Probably more than one source, actually, because sometimes the stories seem to be from a very pro-Mel perspective, but many are from an anti-Mel slant. I can’t really figure this new story out, though. It seems vaguely pro-Mel, in that the “source” seems to have sympathy for the sort of crisis of conscience Mel is going through right now. Apparently, Mel has cold feet about Oksana, and their alleged wedding plans. He misses Robyn and their crappy marriage. The source basically claims that Oksana is henpecking the sh-t out of Crazy Mel, and he’s all a victim of circumstance. Wah!

With a Christmas wedding looming, pals say Mel Gibson is beginning to buckle under the pressure of his billion-dollar divorce and impending marriage to pregnant fiancee Oksana Grigorieva.

“Mel is beginning to show signs of full-fledged panic,” a longtime friend told the Enquirer. “Suddenly, everything’s not as clear-cut as he thought. He’s begun to miss his old life with Robyn and their children, and the prospect of a new bride and a newborn is beginning to terrify him.”

In one revealing moment, Mel admitted that everything is happening too fast.

“Mel has become a runaway train – the wedding, the baby, the much younger bride,” the source divulged. “Mel says he thought he knew what he wanted, but now he’s not so sure.”

Part of the problem is that Mel feels henpecked by Oksana, said the source.

“Mel said Oksana can be very demanding and often nags him about the financial details on his divorce,” the source divulged. “On top of that, Oksana wants Mel to drop at least 25 pounds before they’re married. She’s on him about how he’s letting himself go, and that the age difference between them is worse because he’s starting to look balding and bloated.”

Mel has also realized that while his 29-year marriage to Robyn wasn’t perfect, they’d built a good life together with their children, added the source.

“Mel’s life with Robyn was easy for him, and it pains him that his kids are pulling away from him because of Oksana,” said the source.

“Mel still loves Oksana, but he’s definitely gotten a case of wedding cold feet,” the source divulged. “He’s afraid he’s made a series of wrong decisions, and he’s terrified that his dreams for a great new life with Oksana could turn into a nightmare.”

Mel should be featured on the new series I’m working on with the Discovery Channel called “When Golddiggers Attack”. Earlier this week, CB covered some new pictures of Mel Gibson’s girlfriend/mistress Oksana Grigorieva finally looking somewhat pregnant. I don’t want to get too conspiratorial (okay, I do, because I’m a total conspiracy bitch) but Oksana’s pregnancy seems totally sketchy. Every part is weird – from their sudden pregnancy announcement just within a month of Robyn Gibson filing for divorce, to the different accounts of the length of their relationship, to Oksana’s strange not-pregnant look for most of her alleged second trimester. In the photos from earlier this week, Oksana looks… well, to me she looks like she’s borrowed Nicole Kidman’s pillow. I could totally be wrong. But according to the Enquirer, Mel Gibson is also a little concerned about the size of Oksana’s bump:

Mel Gibson’s pregnant fiancée’s eating habits have friends worries about the couple’s unborn baby, say sources.

Even though she’s six months pregnant, Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, 39, seems to have barely gained weight, sources say.

“Oksana’s barely showing,” a close Gibson family friend told the Enquirer. “She looks so thin that people are talking.”

[Mel] is determined to marry Oksana in a Christmas wedding at the church he financed and built, the Holy Family Chapel in Agoura Hills, California. When contacted for this story, Gibson had no comment. But privately, even the 53-year-old father of seven wishes Oksana would pack on a few pounds, the source said.

“Mel asked Oksana to try to eat more,” said the source. “Robyn gained tons of weight during her pregnancies, but she always managed to get back in shape. Mel’s used to that kind of mentality. A skinny pregnant woman doesn’t seem right to him.”

Even though I dislike Mel and think Oksana is a working girl, I sincerely hope she has a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Now that I’ve said that, let’s play Conspiracy! What the hell is going on with the bump? Just how pregnant is Oksana supposed to be again? Is she just carrying really small, or did she lie about her how far along she was? Or did everyone report it incorrectly?

My theory is that she’s not as far along as everyone thinks. Allegedly, Oksana is anywhere from six to seven months along, something like that. I kind of think she and Mel announced her pregnancy right after conception, instead of waiting for the first trimester to pass. If my theory is right, that makes Oksana around four to five months pregnant, which seems much more reasonable, bump-wise.

I know I’ve said this many times before but I think Anton Yelchin is one of the best, (if not THE best) young actors working today. Hit the jump as I once again proclaim my love for his acting (oh, he’s a cutie for sure, but he’s just not my type in that he’s a guy) and why his new role combined with the casting of Mel Gibson in Jodie Foster’s The Beaver will undermine the film’s intent.

Also, the blandness of that headline is because I couldn’t think of anything that was not only dirty but also cheesy which is far worse.

Anton Yelchin is great not just because he’s talented and charismatic and has a stunning dramatic range. It’s because I called it back at Alpha Dog. Sure, he was already picking up acclaim before then for House of D and even Hearts in Atlantis but Alpha Dog was his major role heading into his adult years in a cast that outshined him in star-power but he over-shadowed with raw talent. And I called it back in 2006 before Star Trek and Terminator Salvation and so my ridiculous ego is now excited for Jodie Foster’s upcoming film, The Beaver starring Mel Gibson.

Variety reports that Yelchin will play the son of Gibson and Foster’s characters. Gibson plays a depressed man who finds solace in wearing a beaver hand-puppet; Foster will play his wife, whom the son lobbies to get a divorce. I know that makes Yelchin’s character out to be the villain but I can’t think of an audience that wouldn’t already be thinking “Divorce Mel Gibson. Please divorce Mel Gibson.” Even the Evangelicals who came out for The Passion of the Christ lost interest in the guy after he moved on and did Apocalypto or as I like to call it, Home Alone: Lost in a Jungle.

The film is planned for a late 2010 release if the higher-ups think it can Oscars and probably an early 2011 release if they think it’s going to win nothing but scorn and derision, especially since the script topped last December’s Blacklist. For those that don’t know, The Blacklist is a list of the best unproduced screenplays floating around Hollywood.

There’s been much speculation that Mel Gibson’s mistress, singer Oksana Grigorieva, is not actually pregnant and that she either concocted the pregnancy story to ensnare Mel in her skinny clutches or that it’s an elaborate ruse by the couple to gain public sympathy. Some people are much more invested in Mel Gibson’s fate than I could imagine, and someone e-mailed me this conspiracy theory last month, using photos of Oksana’s non-pregnant looking appearance on Good Morning America and at that club where Mel was accused of ripping off a guy’s shirt. (All of that turned out to be a fabrication – probably.) I guess some of the intense interest in Mel can be attributed to the ultra-conservative Catholic sect he follows along with that movie he made in which some claim he rewrote religious history. But whatever – to me he’s the drunk-driving anti-Semite who cheated on his wife. The religious stuff just makes him a hypocrite.

Anyway, Mel and Oksana were photographed out together late last month. She was wearing a lose shirt and although she looked a little pregnant she definitely didn’t look six months along as she supposedly is. She’s a thin woman, though, and I’ve seen plenty of definitely-pregnant starlets and supermodels looking just as thin that far along. Lucky bitches. On Friday, Oksana was seen getting groceries and her pregnancy was much more apparent. This could put some of those rumors to rest, or maybe people will say it was a staged photo op and claim she donned a prosthetic. You never know with some of those Mel-fanatics. I’m surprised the guy even has fanatics.

In related news, Oksana has settled a lawsuit with her former manager for copyright infringement of four of her songs. There’s no word if any money changed hands. She’s also suing the same guy in a separate lawsuit for distributing photos of her modeling lingerie. And I thought those pictures were released to get the maybe future Mrs. Mel Gibson just a little more publicity.

Last week, it looked like Mel Gibson and Robyn Gibson were finding some semblance of peace. Reports indicated that their divorce negotiations were going smoothly, and Robyn even left the country for Oksana Grigorieva’s media blitz. Word was that Mel and Robyn had been meeting secretly at the small church Mel had founded, and had spent some quality time burying the hatchet, for the sake of their kids.

Not so much, as it turns out. The Enquirer is reporting that after a small reconciliation, Robyn “has crafted a startling new plan” to destroy Mel’s soul. ‘Atta girl. Robyn pulled away from making it easy on Mel when she “grew suspicious” of Oksana. Robyn thinks Oksana has a “sketchy past” (duh) and Robyn hired a private investigator to follow Oksana at all times. Robyn truly feels that Oksana is out to get as much money from Mel as possible (dur), and Robyn wants to make sure she and her kids are taken care of first:

Hollywood’s most vicious divorce battle has taken a venomous turn with Mel’s scorned ex putting a private detective on Oksana, and vowing to dismantle his Holy Family Chapel in Agoura Hills, say sources.

According to insiders close to her, Robyn has agreed to a “bifurcated” divorce – a process in which the marriage is terminated quickly, but division of property, alimony, child support or custody arrangements, and determined later.

However, “Robyn is out to get Mel in the end,” says a close family friend. “There’s $1 billion at stake, and Robyn is planning on taking it all, including Mel’s chapel.”

“Her attorneys have finally gotten through to her that the real estate alone the chapel sits on is worth millions. While she’s been a member of the chapel for years, Robyn’s involvement was all because of Mel. She’s not Catholic and she could not care less about Mel’s shrine.”

We recently reported that Robyn and Mel were on good terms and trying to work things out amicably during secret meeting at the chapel. But Robyn made a sudden about-face after she grew increasingly suspicious of Oksana’s motives, and the Gibson children began to resent the Russian pop singer.

“Robyn feels Oksana has a sketchy past, and that she’s using Mel. She also believes Oksana is out to get a big piece of the Gibson family’s financial pie,” the friend divulged. “She’s so furious that she’s hired a private investigator to follow Oksana. She wants as much dirt as possible to give her leverage if a court battle is necessary.”

The seven Gibson children are on their mom’s side, the source said.

“Oksana told Mel that his kids should be separate from their new life together,” claimed the friend. “Oksana wants her own life with Mel, their baby and her 12-year-old son. She’s pushing Mel to put all of his time and money into his new family.”

“But Mel’s kids love him, and they feel he is choosing Oksana and her family over them. At this point, they are against Oksana and think she is after their father’s money and quality time.”

I hate the reference to Oksana as “his new family”. Barf. I mean, obviously, he’s knocked her up and he’s going to try to make a go of it. But let’s not sanctimoniously refer to either an “old” or “new” family. Robyn and Mel have seven children together – and even though I think Mel is a total sleaze, I do think he’ll do right by his kids. He’ll probably do right by Robyn too – she must really have the dirt of him, and it probably scares the hell out of him. All Robyn has to do is sign a book deal or do one sit-down tell-all interview with Barbara Walters, and Mel’s ass and assets are hers.

There’s been a lot of news lately about Mel Gibson and his pregnant girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, probably because she’s been doing a media blitz to promote her album, which Mel Gibson is paying for. Oksana admitted last week that she only got with Mel when he “reassured” her his marriage was unhappy. Previously, we’ve heard other explanations for how, when and where Mel and his wife Robyn became estranged, and my guess was that Oksana just forgot her talking points. We’ve also heard about the alleged “secret annulment” Mel Gibson got from his sort-of Catholic Church in California, supposedly so he could marry Oksana free and clear. Most of the stories have been pretty consistent – Oksana is here to stay, and Mel is making arrangements to have their relationship legitimized in the eyes of the public.

Alas, the Enquirer has a different take. And before everyone gets up in arms about it being from the Enquirer, keep in mind that they’ve had several great scoops on Mel and Oksana that later turned out to be true. They claim that Mel is really worried that Robyn will destroy him in the divorce, and that Robyn will turn all of their kids against him. I totally buy that. The Enquirer also reports that Robyn and Mel have been meeting secretly to work out the divorce deal, and to keep the peace – they are “getting along better than they have in years.” My guess is that Robyn is being nice because she’s visualizing all of that money she’s going to get. Imagining eight zeroes on a check has a calming effect. But guess who’s not happy with Mel and Robyn’s secret meetings? Oksana!

Mel Gibson is meeting secretly with his soon-to-be ex-wife, and his pregnant girlfriend is fuming! [He’s] bending over backward to please both his estranged wife Robyn and fiancée Oksana Grigorieva, and sources say the pressure has him frazzled.

“He knows that Robyn still has a lot of control over his assets and their children’s opinions of him, so he’s being very nice to her. They’re getting along better than they have in years.”

But… the truce with Robyn is causing tremendous turmoil between him and 39-year-old Oksana, who is due to deliver his child this fall.

“When Oksana found out about Mel’s secret meetings with Robyn, she went berserk,” said the insider.

“The key problem is Oksana knows Mel will always have a place in his heart for Robyn, and she’s scared to death that Mel might reconsider their divorce.”

But a reconciliation is not really an option, said the source. One big factor, as the Enquirer recently reported, is 53-year-old Robyn’s newfound happiness with her secret boyfriend, who lives in northern California.

“At this point, Robyn just wants the divorce to be finalized so she can move on with her life,” explained the insider. “And she wants the Gibson kids to be happy with both their parent’s new relationships.”

Oksana’s not really the sharpest knife in the drawer is she? Threatening to not marry Mel isn’t much of a bluff. Oksana needs the marriage way more than Mel. True, she’s got her baby “Cash Money”, but she would get a lot more in a divorce. As for the threat about not seeing Robyn anymore? Puh-lease. No matter how much of a douche I think Mel is, I do think he and Robyn probably care very much about maintaining some sort of civil relationship for their seven kids.

Radar is reporting that Mel Gibson’s estranged wife of 29 years, Robyn Gibson, has fled the country. Perhaps “fled” is the wrong word, but I tend to think it’s apt. Mel Gibson’s baby-mama, Oksana Grigorieva has been on a media blitz to promote her album, Beautiful Heartache. Robyn probably doesn’t want to listen to any of the press. Or maybe she just wanted to go on holiday with her youngest son, Tommy. Radar is also reporting that Mel and Robyn’s divorce is about to become final “within days” but has no mention of what kind of settlement Robyn will be getting. Mel is reportedly worth around $900 million, and some sources claim that Robyn could be getting half. My guess? She’ll probably walk away with around $200-300 million in cash, assets and property. Bring mama a mojito.

Earlier this week, we covered one of the interviews Oksana Grigorieva has been doing to promote her album. In that Reuters interview, Oksana did her best to come across like anything other than a vapid gold-digger. She actually seemed sympathetic at times (to me at least), but she did say some aggravating things, like: “How can I be judged for falling in love? We live in the same city. I don’t control who I meet… love is inexplicable… It’s not like I was planning to meet Mel specifically. Life happens. There was a working relationship for a long time. I thought he was happily married until I was reassured otherwise. And then it happened.” Oksana also claimed that she and Mel had no specific plans to get married.

Oksana’s CNN interview was a lot of the same, but I thought I’d put some of highlights up. If you’d like to see the interview, CNN has it. Oksana calls Mel a “visionary” (barf) and claims that she and Mel aren’t going to find out the sex of the baby. But how will they pick out a name? Oh, right. “Cash Money” works for a boy or a girl:

Beautiful Heartache was released to iTunes on July 23 by Icon Distribution, Mel Gibson’s company, which up until now has handled only soundtracks for his movies.

“He’s an incredible artist,” Grigorieva said. “A visionary. He enabled me to produce this album, for my music to live.”

Grigorieva and Gibson were first photographed together on the set of his movie Edge of Darkness, according to People magazine. Grigorieva is pregnant with Gibson’s child and is to give birth this year.

She said the couple has opted not to learn the sex of the child. It will be her second child, after Alexander, her 12-year-old son with actor Timothy Dalton.

“I’m already buying things in gender-neutral colors. It’s very cute,” she chuckled.

Alexander, she added, is excited about having a sibling. “He’s like a little man, protecting me. He’s looking forward to it very much.”

Grigorieva says she and Gibson have no immediate plans for marriage. “We don’t know yet. We haven’t really talked about it,” she admitted.

She acknowledged that her relationship with Gibson has given her a unique opportunity to present her skills. “If you think about it, every talent needs a serious push and help from somebody who is stronger, because it’s pretty much impossible for anybody to succeed in this industry. So I’ve become very lucky, and I’m very grateful… You don’t control the situations or the people you meet. I did not plan this. I’m just doing what I’ve always been doing. It’s not like I’ve changed my goals at all.”

In the meantime, Grigorieva is adapting to life in the public eye.

“It hasn’t been too bad, actually. There was a period of time where it was a little bit difficult, but now it’s much better,” she said.

Before embarking on limited press for the new album, Gibson did offer a few words of advice, she added: “Just be myself and speak the truth. What I most like to talk about is my music and ‘Beautiful Heartache.’ And that’s pretty much it.

When she’s not yawn-inducing, she makes me queasy. This whole operation makes me queasy, actually. The “Braveheart” star reportedly wants to marry his not-so-secret girlfriend in a Christmas ceremony. Did the star pull some strings with the higher ups at his family-owned breakaway Catholic church –specifically his father–to arrange a secret annulment of that marriage? The National Enquirer is reporting that he did, in the hopes that the annulment would eventually be recognized by the Catholic church. Kind of strange, considering that this breakaway church NEVER gives annulments.

Mel Gibson’s 29-year-marriage has been secretly annulled, The Enquirer has learned exclusively.

And now he’s planning to marry his pregnant Russian girlfriend in a splashy Christmas wedding.

The annulment was approved by Gibson’s breakaway Catholic congregation, and it isn’t officially recognized by the Catholic church.

Despite that, the “Passion of the Christ” star, 53, is using it to set the stage for marrying his lover, 39-year-old Oksana Grogorieva, insiders say.

Catholic Bishops turned down Mel’s request for an annulment. So his dad Hutton, the 90-year-old patriarch of the family owned church, led a tribunal that annulled the marriage, a family insider divulged.

The tribunal was attended by loyal congregation members of Gibson’s private, independent church, the Holy Family Chapel in Malibu, about a month after Robyn filed for divorce, according to the insider.

Hutton Gibson presided over the hearing and granted his son’s annulment request after the Oscar-winning actor presented “evidence” that the union was never a true marriage, even though he married Robyn in a Catholic ceremony in Australia in 1980, said the source.

“Especially important was Mel’s description of how he felt pressured into the marriage in the first place because Robyn was pregnant,” maintained the family insider. “Those feelings indicated to Hutton that it couldn’t be a true marriage, and so he felt it must be invalid.

“After the discussion ended, Hutton pounded his fist on the table and said, ‘It is clear that this union did not have what it takes to be a true marriage!’”

“The annulment is being kept secret, but Mel hopes that some of the Bishops he has recently befriended can be persuaded to give him an official Catholic annulment.”

It must be nice to have friends in high places- specifically, your religious zealot of a daddy. I find it very hard to believe that a real Catholic Bishop would grant an annulment of a 29-year marriage, regardless of how it started. But then again, several high-profile Catholics have managed to win annulments of decades-long marriages. The Kennedy family has spawned a few, including the most famous one in which Joe Kennedy won his bid for annulment against ex-wife Sheila Raunch Kennedy, who wrote about it bitterly in “Shattered Faith.” Though it’s never been confirmed, Ted Kennedy is also believed to have been granted one in his marriage to Joan Kennedy – he’s since been seen taking communion, which is a big no-no for divorced Catholics unless they’ve had an annulment. Mel does seem to have a way of getting what he wants – if he does end up marrying his mistress in a Catholic church, we will have our answer.

An article with a little more detail than the previous, I suppose…

It seems Mel Gibson only trusts pregnant girlfriend Oksana as far as he can throw her. Mel has been harangued by his adult children and his soon-to-be ex-wife into demanding a DNA test on the child Oksana is carrying. According to the National Enquirer, the kids want to make sure that Oksana’s baby is “a rightful heir to his fortune.” Except I read that as “a rightful heir to the Crazy throne.” Mel’s kids aren’t the only ones worried – apparently, he’s been getting crap from the people at his church, too. It seems the general consensus for everyone around Mel is that Oksana is a gold-digger who got pregnant to get a nice slice of Mel’s fortune. Shocking!

So who else could have fathered this baby? The best hunch the Enquirer can come up with is Oksana’s ex-boyfriend, music producer David Foster. But who really thinks Oksana would have stupid enough to get pregnant with someone else‘s baby? She took one look at Mel and saw the crazy cash register:

[Mel] made the decision after speaking with friends and with the grown children he had with his estranged wife Robyn, the source divulged.

“Some of Mel’s closest friends in his church convinced him that it’s the practical thing to do. There’s just too much at stake,” the insider said.

“Mel doesn’t believe that Oksana has been with anyone else, but after hearing misgivings from his children and friends, he decided he had no choice. Oksana wasn’t happy about it, but once her baby is born, there will be a paternity test.”

[The] April 13 divorce suit filed by Gibson’s long-suffering wife Robyn has set the stage for a bitter battle over his billion-dollar fortune.

Sources say Mel has been hearing rumors about the possibility that [Oksana had] been seeing her ex, award-winning music-producer David Foster. But there’s no evidence that her baby is anybody’s but Mel’s.

“Mel was sick and tired of the questions about Oksana’s loyalty, but it finally got to him,” adds the source. “He didn’t want to bring up the subject of a DNA test to her, but he realized he had no choice.”

His kids have pressured Gibson to take a paternity test, insisting that he get physical proof that the child is really his, confides the source.

“Some members of Mel’s family believe Oksana is a gold digger,” an insider adds. “It’s hard for Mel to hear that. He says he’s agreed to the DNA test not for himself, but for his family.”

For Oksana, it’s not all pain, suffering, mistrust, dirty deeds and dealing with Mel’s nasty, drunken self. According to a separate report form In Touch, Mel is already making sure that Oksana, her 11-year-old son and the baby will be taken care of no matter what. In Touch has Mel buying Oksana a $2.4 million home in Sherman Oaks, California. It’s not exactly Mel’s extensive multi-million dollar spread in Malibu, but it’s not too shabby:

Mel Gibson [bought Oksana] and her 11-year-old son, Alexander, a charming $2.4 million love nest. The 3,468-square-foot home in Sherman Oaks, CA has four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths, plus indoor and outdoor fireplaces and fountains in the backyard.

“It’s a beautiful place,” says one observer.

Despite the house, a rep for the actor denied a Chicago Sun-Times report that Mel will also pay Oksana “$10 million once the child is born later this year, $40,000 a month in child support and pay for all educational expenses through college.”

Yes, Mel denied that payment plan that the Chicago Sun-Times reported – because Mel is waiting for the DNA test to come in. Once it’s established that it’s Mel’s baby (I’m sure it is), the payment system will be back on, I’m positive. It’s almost enough to make me wish I had a rich sugar daddy. It’s nice that Mel Gibson has found love again after the collapse of his 28-year marriage and that he’s going to have a baby with his new girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva. Really, we’re all entitled to a bit of happiness, life’s both too short and too hard not to have some joy. And yet, you’re unlikely to have heard anyone offer Elizabeth Adeney the same good wishes, as last week she became Britain’s oldest mother, giving birth to her first child at the age of 66. Yes, so Gibson’s a good decade younger at 53, but he’s still going to be 74 at his new child’s 21st.

There is, of course, the fact that a woman simply can’t conceive the usual way at 66, while Mel, clearly, can still do the deed in his early 50s, which makes it more natural and acceptable in his case, but it’s all a bit off-putting nonetheless. Mel appeared on Jay Leno’s TV show in the US this week and confirmed the rumour that Oksana is pregnant. Leno joked that this would be his 29th child, and Mel laughed in return, “Actually, eight. I guess I’m Octo-Mel”. Cue laughter as yet more fun was poked at Nadya Suleman, the recent mother of octuplets generally mocked for her massive family and eagerness for publicity, while middle-aged Mel grins and has his virility applauded.

And it’s lovely for Mel, this rollercoaster of good tidings. Within months he’s announced his divorce after 28 years and seven children, then he came clean on his relationship with Oksana and now, he’s going to be a dad again. It’s wonderfully happily ever after, except for the fact that Mel’s always been such an ardent Roman Catholic. And the last time I checked, “ah, but he’s happy” held no weight against the sins of adultery (he is still married) and divorce (he is getting one). Okay, so he’s clearly not using contraception, but even that doesn’t cancel out the others. Or maybe there’s no point complaining about the unfairness of life, maybe for Mel, the rules don’t apply.
