Malibu Mansion Goes in Divorce Sale

Posted on March 9, 2010 at 10:03 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson and his soon to be ex-wife are selling their family mansion as their divorce proceedings hit the home stretch.

The couple, who filed for divorce 11 months ago, want $A16 million for their sprawling estate, which is hidden inside an exclusive gated community in sun-drenched Malibu.

The Spanish hacienda-style retreat, Lavender Hill Farm, was listed on Saturday as the couple finalise their bitter split.

Gibson, 55, and his Australian wife Robyn Moore, 54, bought the six-bedroom spread in 1993.

They raised their seven children there as Gibson carved out the glittering Hollywood career that has earned him about $1 billion.

The home, in the star-studded Serra Retreat, has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a gym, three fireplaces, a library, three guest houses and private staff quarters.

There is a pool, spa, tennis court, giant garden chess board, fruit orchards and an open air cabana.

Over the years, their neighbours inside the super rich enclave have included director James Cameron, pop star Britney Spears and Australia’s own Olivia Newton-John.

The Telegraph Online understands the home was listed on Saturday and, so far, no prospective buyers have viewed it.

Robyn Moore filed for a divorce from her movie star husband last April, nearly three years after Gibson claims they first separated.

He has since had a daughter with his new lover, Russian pianist Oksana Grigorieva, 40.

Californian legal experts yesterday said the listing could mean Gibson and Robyn have reached a settlement which orders the sale of the home.

It could also mean that Robyn, who has been the sole occupant since the split, has simply decided to move out and build a new life elsewhere.

She is rumoured to have a close companion in northern California.

In another sign the divorce could be nearing an end, Gibson’s health care plan has been formally tied to the proceedings, a routine process that ensures every last cent is brought before the court for judgment.

Gibson and Robyn had no prenuptial agreement, which means his entire fortune will probably be divided down the middle.

The LA Superior Court judge handling the Gibson divorce has ordered their lawyers to update him on the status of the negotiations in May.The agents selling the family home, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, declined to comment.

Gibson has a taste for expansive country-style living. His 15-bedroom Tudor-style mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut, is on the market for $A32.6 million.

It was first listed in 2007, before the economic downturn.

The agent selling that home did not return calls last night.

Mel Gibson – I’ll Watch The Oscars At Home Naked

Posted on March 5, 2010 at 7:40 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Director/actor Mel Gibson and his lady love, Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, walked the red carpet Thursday night at a pre-Oscar bash, and exclusively told Radar Online that he’s skipping Sunday’s Academy Awards and watching it at home – NAKED!

We caught up with Mel, who was in an unusually playful mood, at The Hollywood Reporter’s first Nominee’s Night at Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s home in Los Angeles.

While everyone else is wondering what to wear, Mel told us he had other plans for Oscar night, “I’m not wearing anything,” he quipped.

We were surprised to learn that Mel, a two-time Oscar winner, is not attending Sunday’s Academy Awards. “I plan on laying in front of my TV set probably wearing my birthday suit.”

Oksana laughed when Radar Online asked if that’s how they always watch TV. “No, that’s not true,” she said.

The couple left the party early, presumably to tend to their new baby girl, four-month-old Lucia Anna. “We have to pay the ransom,” Mel joked.

As for his upcoming projects, the Braveheart star said, “I’ve got a couple of treats in store…. wait and see.”

Gibson Was ‘Smoking In The Womb’

Posted on March 3, 2010 at 11:46 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson struggled to quit smoking because he started when he was in the womb.

The Mad Max star is still battling his addiction to nicotine after quitting last year and he’s convinced it would have been much easier for him to quit if his mother hadn’t been a smoker when she was pregnant with him.

The actor tells WENN, “It is a hellish habit to break. Your neurons are involved. My mother smoked when I was in her womb. I first had one when I was nine years old and I thought, ‘Yes, I missed this!’ I knew I missed it.

“And 45 years later, after every single artistic decision; every decision I’d ever made was done with a cigarette. To not have that is pretty hectic. It’s worse than crawling the walls, which I did for a while. There’s no more fun things left. I just don’t do anything fun anymore; but that’s dying isn’t it? I mean you die in stages. You let things go in pieces. It’s mostly over halfway through.”

But glum Gibson, a new dad, admits quitting smoking is just the start of a new health regime for him: “I try and eat right and exercise a little.”

Mel Gibson Loves Miserable Roles

Posted on March 2, 2010 at 5:00 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson finds it ”thrilling” to play characters who are down on their luck because it helps him realise just how great his own life is.

The Hollywood actor – who stars as Thomas Craven, a homicide detective investigating the death of his activist daughter in Edge of Darkness – enjoys taking on unhappy roles, despite how difficult they can be, because it makes him appreciate his own life.

He said: “I’m not good at suffering. I scream my lungs out and hate it. But there’s one advantage to it: you become humble and in the end you will find redemption. I admit it’s a very thrilling process for me… I like to deal with it over and over again.”

The 54-year-old star spent six years working behind the camera before making his comeback with Edge of Darkness, and he decided to take on the role because he has started to realise time is precious.

He told German TV channel Tele 5: “I am what I am. Everyone’s biding their time and one day will be your last and your life will be over. It’s getting worse and worse and then you die. But since I’ve passed the big 50 I’ve chosen my projects more carefully. When you realise that half of your life has gone by you don’t want to do s**t stuff anymore.

“I make clear-cut decisions now and only want to make films that are important to me. Everything else would be a waste of my lifetime. I prefer going fishing to doing a film, that’s no use to me.”

Mel’s Toilet Tears

Posted on February 23, 2010 at 4:58 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson’s motto in life is to “s**t a lot and cry”.

The ‘Braveheart’ actor spends his days following a strange set of rules which state it is important to go to the toilet often and shed plenty of tears.

Speaking about his life motto, he said: “Don’t get caught! No, seriously. Try to live everyday as if it was your last. You should s**t a lot and cry.”

Over the years Mel has battled alcoholism, been arrested for driving under the influence and is in the process of divorcing his wife of 30-years Robyn – with whom he has seven children.

Last year Mel’s brood was extended further, when his Russian singer girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva gave birth to baby daughter Lucia in October 2009.

Fatherhood is very important to Mel, who admits he has become “softer” with his children as he has got older.

He explained: “I’m the strict kind. Throughout the years you become softer though. My younger children benefit from that. The more experienced you become as a father, the more relaxed you are with your children – until you’re just spoiling them!”

The 54-year-old star has also praised his father Hutton Gibson for his own “loving” upbringing.

Mel explained to German website Spielefilmetechnik.de: “My dad was a great person. He was very intelligent, skipped two years in school. The way he raised me was loving and rational. When you got into trouble, he gave you several warnings. If you ignored them you would get disciplined, but you knew you deserved it.”

Mel and Oksana Make Beautiful Music Together

Posted on February 22, 2010 at 10:09 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Oscar winner Mel Gibson and girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva dish to “Extra’s” Jerry Penacoli about their joint music ventures.

Gibson wrote lyrics for two songs on Grigorieva’s upcoming album. “I always felt the poetic urge coming, so I’ve been providing lyrics and stuff for a few of her songs,” said Gibson. “I’ve been writing poetry and stuff since I was a teenager. Didn’t want to admit that to my friends.”

With Mel lending a hand to his girlfriend’s album, she has big plans for his next film. “I’m scoring his next movie,” said Grigorieva. “I’ll try to write songs, but it’ll be mainly scoring. I’m sure I’ll write a couple of songs. If he’d like that… that’s great.”

The couple held a benefit concert in L.A. for the Chernobyl Children’s Project International, a cause that the two are passionate about. Grigorieva explains, “They pay for operation and save children’s lives.”

The songwriter’s “Angel” became a theme song for Chernobyl Children’s Project International and Grigorieva is donating part of her album’s proceeds to the organization.

Mel Gibson: ‘I have a short fuse’

Posted on February 8, 2010 at 9:30 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

After explaining his on-air insult to a Chicago reporter earlier this week as being a remark meant for his publicist, Gibson has addressed the topic while in France on his Edge of Darkness promotional tour. (Here he is with Oksana Grigorieva at last night’s premiere in Paris.)

While doing an interview on Wednesday, a journalist asked Mel, “Did you come prepared with French curse words for French journalists?”

“Non!” replied Gibson, adding, “I mean no. It usually comes out in English if I’m angry. I have a short fuse. I’m trying to work on it.”

‘A-hole’ Remark Directed at Publicist, Not Reporter

Posted on February 3, 2010 at 4:40 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson says an on-air insult this week was directed at his publicist, not a WGN reporter.

In a text message to KTLA’s Sam Rubin Wednesday, Gibson said his publicist was making faces at him off-camera, and the actor didn’t realize he was still on air when he called him an “a**hole.”

The flub was caught on camera during an interview between Gibson and WGN reporter Dean Richards about the actor’s new movie Edge of Darnkness.

Richards, like many other reporters, asked Gibson whether his audience will forgive him for his 2006 drunken outburst and anti-semitic remarks. Gibson was visibly displeased and responded with, “That’s almost four years ago, dude. I mean, I’ve moved on. I guess you haven’t.”

Gibson then requested Richards to move on, which he did and quickly wrapped up the interview. Gibson can then be heard saying, “a**hole” after sipping his coffee.

It was a situation eerily similar to a recent interview between Gibson and KTLA’s Sam Rubin.

The interview took a turn for the worse when Sam suggested some fans may be reluctant to welcome Gibson back to the big screen.

“I gather you have a dog in this fight?,” Gibson asked Sam, who is Jewish, regarding his anti-semitic remarks years ago.

The uncomfortable interview ended, and Gibson later apologized profusely to Sam during a private, off-camera meeting.

Obama Doesn’t Have What It Takes to ‘Fix’ America

Posted on January 29, 2010 at 11:37 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Never one to shy away from voicing his opinion, actor Mel Gibson has declared that he doesn’t believe President Obama has the means necessary to “fix” the United States.

“[Obama] is a man with an impossible task on his hands,” Gibson told Pop Tarts at the Hollywood premiere of his latest drama thriller Edge of Darkness on Tuesday night. “He got left a mess and I wish him all the best but I don’t think he’s going to fix it in five minutes and probably not in his entire tenure.”

Gibson’s thoughts come as no surprise, as his new film explores the dark side of politics. He stars as homicide detective Thomas Craven, who is embroiled in an investigation into the murder of his activist daughter. In the process, Craven uncovers a corporate cover-up and government collusion that attracts an agent tasked with cleaning up the evidence.

“It picks the scab off the governmental, corporate paranoia – the under the table workings that happen,” Gibson explained. “I think we’ve lost our naiveté, I don’t think we have any pretension that what most of our leaders are doing is leading us to the slaughterhouse.”

And with all the headline news Gibson has made over the past few years with various trials and tribulations in his personal life, it is hard to believe it has been seven years since he actually took on a major film role, the last being Signs in 2002.

“I just wanted to come back and that was just the best piece of material that crossed my hands” he said.

And although the controversial actor has a reputation in the industry for being an on-set prankster, he got a taste of his own medicine this time around while working with fellow Australian, Bojana Novakovic, who played his daughter.

“I pranked him, I pretended that I was a seamstress on the first day and I went up to him as the seamstress until he realized who I was,” Novakovic said. “He was still very nice to me [as] the seamstress, but I wanted him to play a prank on me after that but he never did. I think it might be coming. He said ‘watch your back’ and it comes when you least expect it so I was watching my back the entire shoot.”

Posted on January 25, 2010 at 2:55 PM EST by BlessedBeauty

Mel Gibson admits he is protective of his daughters because he knows “all guys are dogs”.

The controversial Lethal Weapon star plays a man seeking revenge for the murder of his daughter in his comeback movie Edge of Darkness.

And he confessed he is very protective of his own daughters, married Hannah, 29, and three-month-old Lucia by his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

He said: “Oh, you get scared. We all know what dogs all guys are because we’re guys.

“But we shouldn’t despair. The beautiful truth is all women are smarter than men.”

Does Grigorieva know all guys are dogs?

Just for fun, it’s time to weigh in. Do you agree? Click here to vote.
